The Tale of Princess Kaguya

I was very distracted this week both with getting this site up and running… and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. As such I only watched this one film and it was… fine?

A studio Ghibli that, like some of their other stuff, is too long winded, but is absolutely spectacularly animated, this one takes a fairytale and expands it to just under 2.5 hours... which is way too long for a fairytale. While the execution is (mostly) interesting, there's just not enough meat on the bones to keep it afloat. This would have been great at 90 minutes with some serious honing of ideas. Maybe it resonates more with an eastern audience, but it missed me pretty good.
